Tulane-Paris Institute of European Legal Studies & Business Law
The Tulane Law School, together with the University of Paris/Dauphine’s Business School, welcomes you to our summer program in Paris. The program is specifically designed for both law students and business school students. It is an accredited program for law and business students who seek to understand the global dimensions of today’s world. The Tulane-Paris Institute is a highly prestigious summer program. Indeed it is the oldest, continuously-operating (since 1973) American summer program in France.
The classes are taught in English on the campus of Paris/Dauphine University, located in one of the most beautiful quartiers of Paris. Paris/Dauphine is one of the elite, highly-selective “Grands Etablissements” of France and one of Europe’s premiere universities. Our courses provide a business/law overview of Europe today: the European financial system, the Brexit implications, France’s unique laws and culture, and the modern challenges facing the European legal order. The classes are taught by an internationally renowned faculty drawn from Tulane and Paris/Dauphine. The program attracts students from law schools and business schools in the United States, France and Europe.
The benefits of the program are enhanced by the unique cultural riches of Paris. In afternoons you will have guided visits to an array of Parisian institutions, many of which are inaccessible to tourists, for example, the International Chamber of Commerce, the Paris Stock Exchange, the French Supreme Court, the National Assembly, as well as famous museums like the Louvre and the Museé D’Orsay. At least one long (three-day) weekend is scheduled so that you have time to make side trips inside or outside of France.
As a special feature, the Institute offers every student the possibility of obtaining an individual internship that will be carried out under the supervision of the Director of the Institute. There are no foreign language requirements for these internships. For students who speak French functionally or fluently, the program also offers a limited number of internships with Paris law firms.
Internships, Diplomas and CLE
Students successfully completing two or more credit hours will receive the Institute’s Diploma, and those completing internships will also receive the Institute’s Certificate. The Institute welcomes American lawyers to audit the courses in order to obtain CLE credit. The courses are approved for credit in Louisiana and may be acceptable for credit in other states as well. If you need assistance or have further questions about this exciting program, please contact our program coordinator, Mallory E. Asp, at email@example.com or by phone (504) 865-5990.
